Valentine's Gift Idea
Creative Valentines Day Ideas For The Loved Ones In Your Life
If you have not yet realized it yourself yet, I am here to deliver a shocking revelation. Saint Valentine’s Day as is celebrated in this modern day and age lacks the spontaneity, the mystique and the essential element of surprise that were originally intended. Therefore Saint Valentine’s Day no longer brings romance into the mix. No, your ears are not deceiving you, somewhere and somehow along the passing of time and the evolution of generations, Saint Valentine’s Day lost its romance. If I were to be forced to theorize or even guess at the reason for this sad state of affairs I would say, “Commercialism.”
Saint Valentine’s Day has been so commercialized by the greeting card industry, by the flower market and by the chocolate and candy manufacturers that we behave like automatons and end up buying and receiving the cards and the flowers and the chocolates that are expected and that everyone else gives and obtains as well.
I know how grim my statements must seem to you but do not lose hope. There is a way of breaking out of the mold and restoring romance with a capital “R” back into Saint Valentine’s Day and that is by simply returning to our own individual and basics creativity, innate imagination and the courage to tray away from the pack.
To help you with your first steps toward a romantic Saint Valentine’s Day, I have compiled a list of ideas. Look at them, contemplate them and feel free to use them as they are or customized for a better fit for you and your loved one:
Treasure hunt Valentine’s Day style. Create a series of little love notes that lead your loved one from one location to another in the house or apartment and add a single red rose or one heart shaped chocolate to each note. Make the final note lead to the bedroom where you have lighted scented candles, set up your loved one’s favorite music in the background, dressed the bed with fresh sheets, sprinkled the pillows with red rose pedals and place a champagne bottle with a truly final love note leading to the dining room where you will be serving a candlelight dinner that you prepared yourself. If that is not romantic, nothing is.
Monopoly “chance” cards. Be inspired by the well known Monopoly game and create a set of your own “chance” cards that read, “Get out of an argument free,” “Exchange this card for ______ (you fill in the blanks),” “Be forgiven for forgetting free,” “I am sorry,” and so on. You could even have these cards laminated. Wrap them up beautifully and include a Saint Valentine’s Day card that you had made yourself. The effort and forethought that you put into this gift will be tremendously appreciated.
Coupons. Create a set of coupons that can include but are not limited to “Foot rub for a bear hug,” “Full body massage for a dozen kisses,” “A day with the guys (or gals) for a night on the town,” “I’m Sorry in exchange for I love you,” “A car wash for a sunset ride to the beach.”
Cut out 365 red, pink and white hearts and write little notes on each one. These notes can include declarations of love, statements of appreciation, announcements of commitment, etc. Make sure that your beloved finds one of these hearts every day of the year and watch the glowing smiles and looks of adoration increase daily. Congratulations, you have just extended a single Saint Valentine’s Day to a whole Saint Valentine’s year.
